One afternoon a very close friend of mine called me on the phone and said I should apply to work in the marketing department at a company called, Clearlink. The decision to do so has proven to be the best decision of my life.

 

Struggling to come to terms with the next journey in my life, I hesitantly started a career at Clearlink in November 2010. Surrounded by young, intelligent, and energetic people, I quickly realized I had found myself again. Little did I know that I was soon going to find my entire WORLD. And so the story goes...

"HEY PRETTY GIRL WHY DON'T YOU LOOK MY WAY" - Shortly after two years into working at Clearlink, a new employee walked in and sat 30 feet from my desk. Boasting with beauty and style, she had a glow about her that was incredibly difficult to resist. Per usual, I walked and talked with great confidence knowing that I could ask this gorgeous woman out on a date and she would say, "Yes." We had mutual friends, I could help her get to know people at work, if she had questions she could come to me... How could she possible say, "No?" Well she did! Multiple times. And she wasn't very nice about it either. For a few weeks, she wanted nothing to do with me.

"GONNA MAKE YOUR MIND, THERE'S A REAL GOOD CHANCE" - I made up my mind that I was determined to get a date with this girl, so as most guys would do, I went into the 'full-court press' mode. She was going to get a drink with me and I would not stop until that happened. After spending an entire summer getting to know Jessica, hearing her infectious laugh, learning how intelligent and driven she is, and discovering more about her life, I knew this girl was going to change my life. She finally agreed to 'a date.'

"JUST LIKE IT'S MEANT TO BE" - That one date quickly turned into many more over the next few months, and as we gradually got to know each other, I started realizing I was in trouble. Most people that know me would probably admit that they believed I would never actually settle down. But this was something different and my closest friends could see it. Of course I tried to push my limits, and yet there stood this amazing woman keeping me in check and making me realize what life should be about, unconditional love.  

 

"WANNA TAKE YOU HOME, MY MOMMA'S GONNA LOVE YOU" - Like many guys, my Momma's approval is one of the most important satisfactions I can receive. Knowing that my entire family would love and embrace Jessica like they have done for many of my closest friends, I was blown away by the instant bond that was built between Jessica, my sisters, and my Mom. This has truly been one of the most precious gifts that I have recieved. My family adores this amazing woman, and she adores each of them!

 

"LETS BUILD SOME DREAMS, AND A HOUSE ON A PIECE OF LAND" - Everyone thought we were crazy, but the fact was Jessica and I knew what we had found and we were ready to begin our story. We bought a house on a Thursday, gutted the entire inside on the following Monday, and began remodeling the home we live in today. That August we finally moved into the home, and as the saying goes, "If you can build a house together, you can do anything together." Jessica and I laugh 'till this day about that saying because we truly never had one issue while remodeling our home. We consistently were on the same page and the way I like to describe it is, Jessica knows what matters to me most therefore she knows the rest is hers :) 

 

"LIFE'S A LONELY, WINDING RIDE. YOU BETTER HAVE THE RIGHT ONE BY YOUR SIDE" - I'm not sure we could ever truly thank Clearlink, the amazing friend that originally put me there, the selfless leader of the company and now close friend of ours, and the opportunities at Clearlink that are continually provided for our family. One of those life changing opportunities came in March of 2014 when Jessica and I were able to visit Barcelona, Spain and check an item off my bucket list. I will never forget walking through the crowds of people to watch FC Barcelona at Camp Nou, while keeping a death grip on the jacket that securely held Jessica's wedding ring. With my anxiety at an all-time high, after the game we walked to the museum steps at Parc de Montuic, and I proceeded to get down on one knee. Completely surprised and tears rolling down her face, Jessica said, "Yes."

 

"OUR BABY'S GOT YOUR EYES, AND A FIGHTERS HEART LIKE I KNEW SHE WOULD" -  I have always believed that everything happens for a reason, and that life is made up of all these tiny experiences that you must enjoy to the fullest because they may never come back. When we found out we would be bringing a baby girl into this world, we decided to postpone the wedding and eliminate all other distractions to focus on the biggest game of our life, parenting. On April 5th, 2015 our beautiful girl, Barcelona Joy Acosta, was born with Jessica's beautiful eyes and had a fighting heart from the start. Even though the past year has been extremely new and often times challenging, I can honestly say I have never been so happy and thankful for the entire world Jessica has given me.
